Meet with Dana Razik

On May 28, 2024, Duxford International Business School (DIBS) hosted an exclusive meet-and-greet event with renowned singer Dana Razik. This event provided students and faculty with a unique opportunity to interact with the talented artist and gain insights into her musical journey, career, and experiences in the industry.

During the event, Dana Razik shared her creative process, challenges, and achievements, inspiring attendees to pursue their passions with dedication. The atmosphere was lively and engaging, fostering discussions about music, creativity, and personal growth.

Institute Innovation Council Established

The Institutions Innovation Council (IIC) officially launched at DIBS on 19th May 2024, marking a milestone in promoting innovation and entrepreneurship. Dr. Misab P.T., the IIC President, emphasized the council’s mission to foster an ecosystem that encourages innovative thinking among students and faculty.

He also highlighted the importance of collaboration, research, and practical applications in driving innovation. By providing a platform for young innovators, the IIC enables them to test ideas, connect with industry experts, and develop real-world solutions. This initiative supports national goals to enhance innovation and startup culture in education.

The council comprises a diverse group of members. Faculty representatives include Mr. Misab P.T. as President, Dr. Gayathri Harish as Vice President, and Dr. Shamal S. as Internship and IPR Coordinator. Student members include Muhammed Nazirudeen as Internship Coordinator, Mohammed Akif Akmal TK for Social Media, and Diya Ubaid M. as IPR Coordinator, along with others.

Through the establishment of the IIC at DIBS, we aim to empower the next generation of entrepreneurs and create a vibrant environment for growth and collaboration.

Design Thinking Workshop

On 13th May, DIBS hosted an engaging workshop on Design Thinking. Mr. Arjun Govind, an Assistant Professor at Amity Global Business School in Bangalore, facilitated the session. The workshop aimed to provide participants with a clear understanding of the design thinking process. It emphasized the importance of this approach in effective problem-solving and fostering innovation.

Mr. Govind actively engaged attendees through hands-on activities and group discussions. He encouraged creative and collaborative thinking. Participants learned about the five key stages of design thinking: empathy, definition, ideation, prototyping, and testing. Mr. Govind demonstrated how to apply this structured approach to real-world challenges, making the concepts accessible.

Attendees gained valuable insights and practical tools to use in their professional environments. The workshop highlighted the need to foster a culture of innovation within teams. This empowerment encouraged participants to bring fresh ideas and solutions to their workplaces.

Faculty Development Program

The Faculty Development Program (FDP), organized by the Faculty Development Cell and IQAC in collaboration with Duxford International Business School (DIBS), took place in May 2024 on the dates 13th, 14th, 16th, and 25th. Aimed at enhancing the professional competencies of the teaching staff, this program brought together key resource persons to cover diverse and highly relevant topics.

Mr. Raghvveer from Linways, a resource person, led a technical session on OBE Module Setting and Implementation, providing insights into efficient module development within the education framework. Following this, Dr. Muhammed Rafi & Aflah shared their expertise on utilizing Google Workspace for Communication and Teaching, offering practical tools to streamline digital learning environments.

Additionally, Mr. Muhammed Nuhman A.P. conducted an informative workshop on Situation Analysis: A Gateway to Action Research, emphasizing the importance of practical research approaches in academic settings. The final session, led by Team Educantia, focused on the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Education, highlighting how AI can transform teaching methodologies.

This well-rounded FDP aimed to equip educators with contemporary teaching methods, research tools, and innovative technologies to enhance their academic delivery and professional growth.

DIBS Visits Kerala Startup Mission: Fostering the Next Generation of Entrepreneurs

On May 3rd, learners from Duxford International Business School (DIBS) visited the Kerala Startup Mission Campus at Cyberpark in Calicut. This visit gave students a chance to explore Kerala’s thriving startup ecosystem. During the program, they engaged in an exciting discussion with Mr. Rony K. Roy, a Senior Fellow at the Kerala Startup Mission. His extensive experience in fostering entrepreneurial initiatives provided students with valuable insights into the local startup landscape.

During the session, Mr. Roy emphasized the importance of entrepreneurship and innovation. He shared inspiring success stories of local startups and discussed resources available for aspiring entrepreneurs in Kerala. Moreover, he highlighted how collaboration, mentorship, and access to funding play vital roles in nurturing innovative ideas.

World Book Day 2024

World Book Day took place on April 23,2024 at Duxford International Business School, in collaboration with the Duxford Edupark Central Library. This event featured several competitions aimed at promoting a love for reading and literature. Participants engaged in three main activities:

Book Review Competition: Contestants shared insights about their favorite books. They highlighted key themes, characters, and the overall impact of each work.

Book Introduction Reel: Participants created engaging video reels to introduce and promote a book of their choice. They showcased the book’s significance and encouraged others to read it.

Pick and Talk Competition: In this interactive segment, participants picked a book and spoke about it spontaneously. They demonstrated their understanding and passion for the chosen literature.

User Awareness Program

On April 12th, Duxford International Business School hosted a User Awareness Program featuring Subiksha C, the Club Secretary and Librarian of DIBS, as the guest speaker. The event aimed to enlighten students and faculty about the resources and benefits of the National Digital Library of India (NDLI), emphasizing the importance of digital literacy in today’s educational landscape.

During her presentation, Subiksha C shared valuable insights on how to effectively utilize the NDLI platform to enhance research and learning experiences. She encouraged attendees to explore the vast digital resources available at their fingertips and highlighted various tools and features that can aid their academic pursuits.

The session fostered an engaging discussion on the role of digital libraries in promoting knowledge access and lifelong learning. Ifthar Meet 2024

On March 26, 2024, the Duxford International Business School (DIBS) and Duxford College (DC) organized an Ifthar Meet attended by students, faculty members, board members, and their families. This gathering aimed to celebrate the spirit of togetherness during the holy month of Ramadan.

The event provided an opportunity for attendees to break their fast together, fostering a sense of community and camaraderie. It featured a variety of traditional Ifthar dishes, allowing everyone to enjoy the cultural significance of the meal. The atmosphere was filled with warmth and joy as families and friends gathered to share in this meaningful occasion.

Overall, the Ifthar Meet successfully strengthened bonds within the college community, highlighting the importance of unity and support during this special time. The involvement of faculty members further enriched the event, encouraging interactions between students and staff in a festive setting.

Professional Learning Community Inauguration

Introduction

From March 12 to 14, 2024, Duxford College for Advanced Studies (DC) and Duxford International Business School (DIBS) hosted a three-day Professional Learning Community (PLC) Inauguration & Workshop at Duxford Edupark, Malappuram. The event, organized by the Faculty Development Cell and IQAC, aimed to foster collaboration among educators and explore reforms in higher education. The focus was on practical strategies to enhance teaching, curriculum development, and assessment practices.

Day 1: PLC Concept and Curricular Reforms

The workshop began with a welcome speech by Fareed Rahmani, MD & CEO of Duxford Edupark. He stressed the role of PLCs in improving teaching and learning outcomes.

Mr. Muhammed Nuhman A P followed with a presentation on the PLC: Concept & Implication, explaining how these communities enhance collaboration among educators. His talk covered practical steps to implement PLCs in educational institutions.

Next, Dr. Thoufeeque Rahman K discussed the Curricular Reforms Commission for Higher Education, specifically focusing on Chapter 4 of the reform guidelines. He highlighted key recommendations, stressing the need for curricula to meet current industry demands.

Day 2: FYCUCP Framework and Outcome-Based Education (OBE)

On the second day, Ms. N.T. Amritha Kumaran, Head of Commerce at Duxford College, introduced the New FYCUCP Framework. She explained how this framework revitalizes undergraduate programs by making them more industry-relevant and skills-focused.

Dr. Shamal Sheikh, Assistant Professor at DIBS, then spoke about Outcome-Based Education (OBE) Guidelines. He emphasized that OBE focuses on measurable student performance and ensures alignment between academic programs and market requirements.

Day 3: Examination Reforms and Action Planning

On the final day, Dr. Suhail Palakkod, Dean of Academics at DIBS, shared his insights on Examination Reforms in Universities and Higher Education. He talked about modernizing examination systems to ensure fairness and enhance student assessments.

The event concluded with Dr. T Muhammedali leading the Action Plan and Feedback session. This interactive discussion allowed participants to share key insights and develop strategies for implementing the reforms discussed.

Conclusion

The PLC Inauguration & Workshop was a success. It provided valuable knowledge about curriculum reform, outcome-based education, and improved assessments. Through collaboration and dialogue, educators gained tools to foster positive change and innovation in their institutions. The action plans developed will guide future initiatives at Duxford Edupark and beyond.
